How close to the middle are you situated?
Understanding positionality means recognizing how our social and cultural identities, such as race, gender, nationality, ability, or socioeconomic status, shape the way we experience the world and how others perceive us. These identities can afford us power and privilege in some contexts, and disadvantage in others. Reflecting on our own positions helps us become more aware of the lenses through which we interpret educational spaces, relationships, and systems.
