DECUS Training

This module focuses on how teaching happens rather than only what is taught. It examines pedagogical practices, syllabus design, and assessment, inviting you to reimagine your teaching as a relational, inclusive, and decolonial practice. As a participant, you will learn about relational pedagogy, dialogical classroom practices, and transformative approaches to assessment that disrupt hierarchical and colonial traditions of education.

This module aims to equip you with the tools, methods, and reflective practices necessary to align your teaching with decolonial thinking. The emphasis is not on content but on pedagogy and how assessments are used. As a participant, you will be encouraged to reflect critically on your positionality, to challenge the hierarchies of authority embedded in traditional education, and to experiment with alternative pedagogical and evaluative models that foreground inclusivity and plurality.
